Simple Aqua Floating Necklace: Project Instructions

Simple Aqua Floating Necklace: Project Instructions

Our twisted flat oval beads come in a few different colours - in this necklace, we've used the aqua colour. Great for beginners, this project works with crimps and tigertail to create a simple floating necklace.

MATERIALS REQUIRED

  • 50cm tigertail
  • 9 twisted flat oval beads
  • 1 parrot clasp
  • 18 small crimps
  • 4 x 6mm strong jump rings
  • 20 x 3mm plain metal beads
  • 2 filigree metal beads

TOOLS REQUIRED

  • Crimping Pliers
  • Wire Cutters

INSTRUCTIONS

Thread one end of the tigertail through a small crimp, a small metal bead and the loop on the parrot clasp. Go around the parrot clasp and back through the metal ball and the crimp. Using the crimping pliers, squeeze the crimp shut to hold everything in place.

Thread on one of the filigree metal beads to hid the crimp. Then thread on your first set of floating beads ie: one plain metal bead, one twisted flat oval bead, one plain metal bead and one crimp. Crimp into place.

Leave a 30mm gap and thread on a small crimp and squish in place. Follow by threading on a plain metal bead, one twisted flat oval bead, one plain metal bead and one crimp. Crimp into place.

Repeat the pattern until you have eight sets of floating beads each spaced 30mm apart.

Repeat the pattern once more, but don't squish down the last crimp. Instead, thread on a filigree metal bead, followed by a plain metal bead and a jump ring. Take the tigertail around the jump ring and back through the plain metal bead and crimp. Pull up tightly, squish down the crimp and cut off any excess tigertail. Open up one of the left-over jump rings and thread it onto the jump ring already on the necklace. Repeat with the other two to create an extension chain. Your floating bead necklace is now ready to wear!
