Crystal Matinee Necklace : Project Instructions

This simple necklace is a fabulous beginners project - involving tigertail, crimping, wire protectors and beautiful large glass rondelle crystals, a length of chain at the back makes wearing this necklace a snap!

MATERIALS REQUIRED

  • 15cm tigertail
  • 2 small tube crimps
  • 2 wire protectors
  • 2 crimp covers
  • 2 x 6mm stardust metal beads
  • 7 x 12mm rondelle glass crystal beads (milky/amber)
  • OR 7 x 12mm rondelle glass crystal beads (grey/gold)
  • 6 x 3mm plain metal beads
  • 2 x 6mm strong jump rings
  • 56cm chain

TOOLS REQUIRED

  • 2 pairs of Crimping Pliers
  • Wire Cutters

INSTRUCTIONS

Pick up your piece of tigertail and thread it through a small crimp, then through the wire protector and back through the crimp and pull up tight. Squish securely and cut off any excess tigertail. Place a crimp cover around the squashed crimp and gently squish into a round ball with your pliers to hide the crimp. Thread on a 6mm stardust metal bead.

Next, thread on:

  • a 12mm rondelle glass crystal bead
  • a 3mm plain metal bead

Repeat this pattern until you have threaded on 6 glass crystal beads.

Finish by threading on:

  • a 12mm rondelle glass crystal bead
  • a 6mm stardust metal bead

Thread on a small crimp, then through a wire protector, then back through the small crimp. Pull up tightly (but leave enough space to put another crimp cover over the crimp) and squish down the small crimp. Cut off any excess tigertail. Place a crimp cover around the squashed crimp and gently squish into a round ball with your pliers to hide the crimp.

Open up one of the strong jump rings (as they are quite strong, you will need two pairs of pliers, or a jump ring tool) and thread it through one of the wire protectors. Whilst it's still open, thread on one end of the length of chain, close securely. Repeat on the other side of the necklace, using a jump ring to connect the other wire protector to the other side of the length of chain and close securely.

With a suitable length of chain (add more length if it's not long enough for you), your necklace is now ready - to wear simply slide over the top of your head.
