Four Strand Chain Necklace: Project Instructions

Four Strand Chain Necklace: Project Instructions

Sometimes your outfit is too colourful to pull off a crazy coloured necklace - when this happens, chain necklaces are a great fallback. This chain necklace uses seven strand bars (we're only using four of the holes) & four strands of a medium loop chain.

MATERIALS REQUIRED

  • 2m medium oval loop chain
  • 1 parrot clasp
  • 2 x 6mm strong jump rings
  • 2 x 7 strand fancy bar ends

TOOLS REQUIRED

  • Crimping Pliers
  • Wire Cutters
  • Twirly Wirlies

INSTRUCTIONS

A simple, but effective necklace, this project involves cutting chain to the correct length and joining it to an end piece. Two sets of pliers are recommended (we used our crimping pliers and twirly wirlies).

Cut the chain into four lengths:

  • 41cm
  • 45cm
  • 51cm
  • 55cm

Open up the last link on the shortest length of chain and join it to the first loop on the 7 strand fancy bar end, close the link. Open up the last link on the other end of the shortest length of chain and join it to the first loop on the second 7 strand fancy bar end, close the link.

Repeat with the other three lengths of chain, starting by joining the 45cm length to the 3rd loop in the fancy bar ends, and then the 51cm length to the 5th loop in the fancy bar ends. Finish by joining the longest length of chain to the last loops in the fancy bar ends.

Open up one of the jump rings and attach to the loop on the other side of the 7 strand fancy bar end. Close securely.

Open up the other jump ring and attach to the loop on the other side of the second bar end. Whilst it is still open, slide on the parrot clasp. Close securely.Your necklace is now ready to wear!
