Pink/Purple Hibiscus Clay Flower Necklace: Project Instructions

MATERIALS REQUIRED

• 60cm tigertail
• 35 large rice pearls
• 38 6/0 glass seed beads
• 3 hibiscus clay flowers
• 2 filigree metal tubes
• 4 strong jump rings
• 1 parrot clasp
• 1 eye pin
• 2 small crimps
• 2 plain metal beads
• 3 head pins
• 1 x 1.5cm small oval loop chain
• 1 x 2cm small oval loop chain
• 1 x 2.5cm small oval loop chain

TOOLS REQUIRED

• Crimping Pliers
• Wire Cutters
• Twirly Wirlies

INSTRUCTIONS

First, we will created the centre drop for the necklace. Pick up one of the head pins and thread on a seed bead. Leaving a space of 10mm, cut the excess off the head pin. Twirl the end using your twirly wirlies. Repeat process with one more seed bead, and one large rice pearl. You should now have 3 drops, 2 with seeds beads and one with a pearl.

Take the eye pin and thread it through one of the hibiscus clay flowers. Leaving a space of 10mm, cut the excess off the eye pin. Twirl the end using your twirly wirlies. Open up a jump ring and attach to one of the loops on the eye pin. Close securely. Open another jump ring and attach to the other loop on the eye pins. While it is still open, thread on the three pieces of chain. Close securely.

Open up the loop in the top of one of the seed bead drops you made earlier. Thread it onto the shortest length of chain. Close securely. Open up the loop in the top of the other seed bead drops you made earlier. Thread it onto the longest length of chain. Close securely. Open up the loop in the top of the pearl drop you made earlier. Thread it onto the middle length of chain. Close securely. This is your drop complete - put it aside until needed.

Pick up the 60cm strand of tigertail. Thread on a small crimp, a jump ring, then thread back through the crimp. Pull up tightly and squish down the crimp. Cut off any excess tigertail. Thread on a filigree metal tube, followed by a plain metal bead.

Next, thread on:

• a large rice pearl
• a 5/0 glass seed bead

Repeat the above process another 15 times, until you have 16 pearls on your strand.

Next, thread on one of the hibiscus clay flowers, followed by:

• a 5/0 glass seed bead
• a large rice pearl
• a 5/0 glass seed bead
• the jump ring on the drop (created earlier)
• a 5/0 glass seed bead
• a large rice pearl
• a 5/0 glass seed bead

Finally, thread on the last hibiscus clay flower. Then, thread on:

• a large rice pearl
• a 5/0 glass seed bead

Repeat the above process another 14 times, finish by threading on one more large rice pearls, so that your necklace is symmetrical.

Finally, thread your tigertail through a plain metal bead, followed by a filigree metal tube. Then thread through a small crimp, a jump ring, and thread back through the crimp. Pull up tightly and squish down the crimp. Cut off any excess tigertail. Open the jump ring and attach the parrot clasp. Close securely. Your necklace is now ready to wear!
