INSTRUCTIONS

A note on terminology

  • When we refer to the "base" of the teardrop metal backed beads, we are referring to the opposide side to the point or tip.
  • You will need to "pop out" some of the crystals from their settings for this project. Around each crystal, you will note 4 prongs. To pop out the crystal, gently bend these prongs upright (using either your fingernails or pliers) and pull out the crystal, similar to changing a photo in a photo frame. Once you've done your work (crimping etc), simply replace the crystal back into the setting and gently bend the prongs back into place (see our third image for more info).

Strand 1

Take your first piece of tigertail and thread through a small crimp and around a wire protector. Thread back through the crimp, pull up tightly and squish down. Cut off any excess tigertail. Thread on a large holed filigree metal bead. Follow by threading through:

  • the base (fat end) of a teal 18mm metal backed teardrop diamante
  • 3 x jet black ab 6mm rondelle glass crystal beads
  • the base of an amber 18mm metal backed teardrop diamante
  • 3 x jet black ab 6mm rondelle glass crystal beads
  • the base of a teal 18mm metal backed teardrop diamante
  • 3 x jet black ab 6mm rondelle glass crystal beads
  • the base of a teal 18mm metal backed teardrop diamante
  • 3 x jet black ab 6mm rondelle glass crystal beads
  • the base of a purple 18mm metal backed teardrop diamante
  • 3 x jet black ab 6mm rondelle glass crystal beads

  • 3 x jet black ab 6mm rondelle glass crystal beads
  • the base of a teal 18mm metal backed teardrop diamante

Thread through a large holed filigree metal bead, a small crimp and around a wire protector. Thread back through the small crimp, pull up tightly and squish down. Cut off any excess tigertail and tuck the squished crimp up inside the large holed filigree metal bead.

Strand 2

Lay strand 1 out on the table, with the teardrops pointing down, ie with the points down. Pop out the teal crystal from the far left hand side of strand 1 (see above for details on how to pop out the crystals). Pick up the second piece of tigertail and thread on a small tube crimp. Starting from the centre of the metal casing, thread the tigertail out the left side of the casing and through an 11/0 glass seed bead. Take the tigertail around an 11/0 clear glass seed bead and back through the hole in the side of the metal casing. Thread back through the original small tube crimp, pull up tightly and squish down. Thread out through the right hand side of the metal casing, then replace the crystal in the metal casing. Then, thread though:

  • 1 jet black ab 6mm rondelle glass crystal bead
  • the base of a teal 18mm metal backed teardrop diamante
  • 1 jet black ab 6mm rondelle glass crystal bead
  • the tip of the amber 18mm metal backed teardrop diamante from strand 1
  • 1 jet black ab 6mm rondelle glass crystal bead
  • the base of a teal 18mm metal backed teardrop diamante
  • 1 jet black ab 6mm rondelle glass crystal bead
  • the tip of the teal 18mm metal backed teardrop diamante from strand 1

  • 1 jet black ab 6mm rondelle glass crystal bead
  • the base of a purple 18mm metal backed teardrop diamante
  • 1 jet black ab 6mm rondelle glass crystal bead
  • the tip of the purple 18mm metal backed teardrop diamante from strand 1
  • 1 jet black ab 6mm rondelle glass crystal bead
  • the base of a purple 18mm metal backed teardrop diamante

  • the tip of the teal 18mm metal backed teardrop diamante from strand 1
  • 1 jet black ab 6mm rondelle glass crystal bead
  • the base of a amber 18mm metal backed teardrop diamante
  • 1 jet black ab 6mm rondelle glass crystal bead

Pop out the teal crystal from the far right hand side of strand 1. Thread your tigertail through the tip of the metal casing, through a small tube crimp and out the other side of the casing. Thread through an 11/0 clear glass seed bead, then around and back through the hole in the metal casing. Thread through the small tube crimp, pull up tightly and squish the small crimp tube down. Cut off any excess tigertail and replace the crystal in the metal casing.

Strand 3

Once again, lay your necklace on the table, with the teardrops pointing down, ie with the points down. Pop out the teal crystal from the far left hand side of strand 2. Pick up the third piece of tigertail and thread on a small tube crimp. Starting from the centre of the metal casing, thread the tigertail out the left side of the casing and through an 11/0 clear glass seed bead. Take the tigertail around the seed bead and back through the hole in the side of the metal casing. Thread back through the original small tube crimp, pull up tightly and squish down. Thread out through the right hand side of the metal casing, then replace the crystal in the metal casing. Then, thread though:

  • 1 jet black ab 6mm bicone glass crystal bead
  • the base of an amber 18mm metal backed teardrop diamante

  • 1 jet black ab 6mm bicone glass crystal bead
  • the base of an amber 18mm metal backed teardrop diamante
  • 1 jet black ab 6mm bicone glass crystal bead

Pop out the teal crystal from the far right hand side of strand 2.

Finishing it all off
